The role

What is a GTM Engineer?

The person who stops treating go-to-market as a headcount problem and starts treating it as an engineering one.

01

The short version

A GTM Engineer builds and owns the technical systems that generate and convert pipeline. Where a traditional SDR sends emails and a RevOps admin maintains fields, a GTM Engineer writes the code, workflows and data models that make both of those jobs mostly unnecessary.

02

What they actually do all day

Design enrichment waterfalls that resolve a company to its stack, headcount and hiring signals. Wire product usage into the warehouse and back out into sequences. Build AI agents that draft context-aware outreach. Score accounts on real behaviour instead of firmographic guesswork. Kill manual handoffs between marketing, sales and support.

How to become one

Most GTM Engineers arrive from one of three doors: a RevOps admin who learned SQL and Python, a growth marketer who learned to build instead of brief, or a software engineer who got curious about revenue. The fastest proof of skill is a public build: a Clay table, an enrichment agent, a warehouse-driven scoring model someone can actually look at.
